HAPPY 2009!

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope all goes well with you and your family throughout this new year.

So the past week (December 24th - December 31st) I've been at my grandma's house in Chinatown sleeping over since my cousins Pauline and her brother Sean came over from Atlanta, GA like they mostly do.. except Sean's been coming to NY more. Well, I've mostly been staying up late, shopping, eating, and playing Mario Karts on my cousin's Nintendo DS, lols. I bought a few things from Soho and Seaport; a gray jacket (for $9.99), a black dressy top (for $9.99), a pair of Nike sneakers with neon green (for $30 @ Michael K) and a cream colored fleece from Abercrombie&Fitch. Overall, I'm happy I got to spend a lot of time with my dad's side of the family because I don't see them that much and usually the time Pauline and her family comes over is the time us cousins bond together.

The funny thing is that Sean and Pauline's dad was sick then Sean got sick from his dad, then Judy came with the fever, cough and runny nose. Yesterday, Jacky felt sick and today I have the coughs! Thanks a lot guys!

But on Monday, December 29th, I hung out with Josephine as we went to Macy's and American Eagle in 34th St. Herald Square. It was seriously PACKED for a MONDAY in New York City, probably due to the holidays... ughs! It was so hard to get around because of these tourists! Anyways, Josephine and I had lunch at Chipotle where she got a humongous stuffed fajita burrito haha! I'm happy I was able to hang out with her before she goes back to Virginia.

Our main television which we use in the big bedroom broke. So now we're stuck with our old SMALL television (about 13 inches according to my dad) to watch the ball drop. It was no fun and you know how your parents always tell you to move back from the TV screen? Yeah... you HAD to move closer because the screen was that small. NO ONE was used to that small thing and we had that when my parents got married in May '90.. like it was probably in the garage for all these years. But at least we're going to get a new TV!

Today, I spent the afternoon with my boyfriend♥ We watched Slumdog Millionaire at AMC Empire 25 in Times Square 42nd St. I have never heard of this movie on TV or even the internet but his friends said it was really good so we had to watch it. It was AMAZING, like one of my all-time favorite movies now. It was so interesting and there were sad parts. ): It was hilarious to hear M.I.A's Paper Plane song, haha but nonetheless, I sang along. Like seriously, the movies that don't have as much previews or advertisements become so interesting and great movies that I've seen. Anyways after that, we walked to KTOWN in W 32nd St. to get some food and then boyfriend♥ realized he lost his phone. Oh boy, so after calling his phone with my cell that died in the middle of the conversation with the person who found his phone and getting change to call his phone with a pay phone, we walked all the way back in the cold to get his phone after eating. Finally we got the phone back and then we walked back again to Manhattan Mall to browse around but didn't see anything except for a Jimmy Z t-shirt which a worker thought really fit me because of my skinny body. I don't know whether that's a good thing that my body's that thin though, but anyways. OH OH! We also got 2 boxes each of M&M's Premiums in Mint Chocolate, Mocha and Chocolate Almond! The Chocolate Almond is delicious!! But the mean guy and lady were like oh you can't help yourself and stuff when we've been doing that to the past few wagons that had M&M's Premiums on it, like this girl got all pissed because of that lady haha. The lady grabbed the box back from the girl and was like you can't help yourself. Because apparently everyone was only allowed to have ONE box, but like f*ck that if you're in NYC it's every person for themselves haha!

Here's the Yahoo! Movies full description of the movie: The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Intrigued by Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector begins to wonder what a young man with no apparent desire for riches is really doing on this game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out...

"I'll keep this simple: Cancel whatever you're doing tonight and go see "Slumdog Millionaire" instead." - Ty Burr of The Boston Globe

Boston Globe, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, E! Online, filmcritic.com, Hollywood Reporter, New York Post, New York Times, ReelViews, Rolling Stone, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today gave good responses and grades and some were like... ehh.. they deserved more but maybe because they're harsh and have more requirements in their mind of a good movie. But hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and criteria which makes a good movie. Yahoo users' critics averaged to an A whereas the Critics averaged grade was a B+.

In my opinion, it was so worth it to get up at 9:30am just to make it to the earlier show 11:05am just to watch it. It was simply amazing and I love the flashbacks to how he tells his story of his life to prove that he knew the answers through the memories of his life. It was like each question on the Who Wants to be a Millionaire show was some of the chapters in his life that got him to that point. It got so tense when he wanted to call his brother but the girl had his phone! I'm so glad Jamal and Latika are together in the end, too bad for Salim but he was an a*shole to Jamal as they both grew up.

Anyways, Chinese take out for dinner since my mom and brother are out. I don't think I have much planned to do tonight. Anyways, Happy 2009!

A Superhuman Heart Beats in Me

I haven't been updating my blog, roars. Winter break is about 7-8 days away and counting. So from the last post till November 21, 2008, I handed in my college applications. However, I'm procrastinating on the scholarships, FASFA and CSS profile.

School has been stupid. Health is fun since there's Sharon♥, Sheena, Jimmy & Joseph. AP Calculus, ughs, I don't get anything in that class. I told myself I'd get my act together and start doing better however I haven't, shucks. Chemistry is so boring!! Everyone in the class is so silent and we're not getting anywhere although the topics are breezing by. Covalent bonding, booklets on all the bonding, what a drag. Lunch is awesome with Hui, Charlene & Julian. AP English is okay I'd say; there's days you want to be in there and there's the days you don't, just like school except most of the time you don't want to be there. Economics is such a drag but messing around with Adil keeps me away from dying in that class. However, she recently got new seats for us in the computer lab which makes me further away from Adil (shucks).. Raymond's next to me which is good but he lost my USB somehow?! Such a shame that V.R. (initials) is sitting right behind me, ughs. It's bad enough I had to destroy one of his economics paper for the Quality of Life thing, roar. Computer Graphics isn't that bad, it's quite funny at times. We're doing logos, visual identities, symbols, business cards, not too shabby but eh what can you expect? Yearbook's coming along I guess... some stupid pages were like 'fillers' for the book from stupid people. As long as Sharon and I get to be in the yearbook as much as we can. :)

"You can write... some boyfriend stuff.." -Boyfriend♥
We spend most of the time together each week and seeing him so much makes me happy♥. A little past seven months, and it's still as great. Barely any arguments but sometimes they're healthy to become closer. He means a great deal to me and I'm overjoyed I have him. We came into agreement that we would get each other presents, like a wishlist for the normal things we'd get for each other in which we gave a list to each other on ideas and our priorities out of those ideas. Then we'd have the secret part which we're getting each other stuff we want to give to the other without each other knowing what we're getting them. Apparently, he has ideas already on what he's going to get for me for the secret part... and me? I do too! :).

Korean entertainment news that I'm updated with. Big Bang's coming in 2009, but who knows where they're stopping in within the US? They do and their planners, Mr. YG and etc. Hopefully they come to NYC again because they haven't performed since 2006 which was close to where they first began their journey as BIGBANG. Their 2nd album Remember is lovely; I love Sunset Glow & the acoustic version of Haru Haru. Most people are addicted with Sunset Glow, but I'm not sure if that is comparable to Nobody by Wonder Girls (hq mv provided at the bottom of this entry). Wonder Girls, their vocals are alright but what makes them memorable to the fans & the world is their catchy choruses and their image. I'd say they're doing well in the entertainment business. However, recently people have been saying that YooBin (from the Wonder Girls) has gained weight since her debut but why does it matter when most of the people in the world are either starving, anorexic, normal, fat, obese, etc. The media's putting so much pressure on her & the anti's (stupid anti's) which makes her feel sad & uncomfortable. Barely any privacy and who cares?! She's still hot looking and has better legs than the other members. DBSK's Mirotic was banned because of it's lyrics like Rain's Magic Stick song (LOL!). Apparently now only 19+ (AND AFTER 10PM, ROFLCOPTERS) can listen to the song and this is like MONTHS after the single/album came out and MILLIONS of fans already have the song and then the court decides to BAN it. Too late don't you think? So for the MKMF or some other Korean Music Awards thing, they changed up the lyrics that were "dirty" in order to perform, wow. Oh during the MKMF, Hyori Lee had an oufit (black and red checkered blazer), apparently it was from Dolce&Gabbana and 2 days after it went out for the public to purchase online, it's all sold out. It's amazing on how fans would buy their tickets in seconds/minutes or days for outfits to look like their idols. BoA's been in the US for a few months perhaps and she was able to sing her song EAT YOU UP at Jingle Ball Village. I went to Korean Town in 32nd street Manhattan and I saw the last few bits of her music video. I saw the Asian verison of the MV and I heard that the Asian verison was way better than the US version. She performed on December 3rd @ MTV Studios, too bad it was a school day.

Here's the HQ MV of Wonder Girls - Nobody (edit: I just watched a part of it and it's not as HQ as I thought it said but I guess when you open it up on YouTube, it'll be in HQ.)

I guess that's all for now.. stay tuned?

Mumble. Jumble.Ramble. Jamble.

Where to start? Ah, dreadful & time consuming school.

1. School: First marking period ended on October 15th, reports and parent teacher conference was on Thursday night and Friday afternoon. My report was not too shabby.. it goes as follows:
  • AP Calculus - 85
  • AP English 7 - 80
  • Chemistry - 90
  • Computer Graphics - 90
  • Economics - 90
  • Health - 95
  • Yearbook - 90
  • Weighted Average: 90.93%
Okay, so I could have done better in AP English and AP Calculus. But I guess those two subjects aren't really my thing but it's interesting and a challenge. SAT scores came back and I got a 1610, which I went up by 50 points from the previous SAT in May '08. In total I would have went up by 70 which would be if they counted by the best out of each section and added it up. My mom goes on about saying how it's LOW, maybe for her standards and goes on about saying how she's been constantly telling me to study each day (she tells me MULTIPLE times each day, which becomes irritating and it results in my lack of focus and desire to study and do better) but honestly when I took it the 2nd time, I was not as pressured and I took my time. I believe I did good but she doesn't it see it that way. Apparently to her, SAT is what solely determines what college I'm going to. She wants me to go to the "GOOD" colleges but is that necessarily the college RIGHT college for me?

Anyways, moving along, next topic =)

2. Relationship: I'm feeling great, boyfriend of almost 6 months who is truly amazing. I'm thankful for him every time he's there for me and treats me like a princess. Whenever I'm down, happy &etc, he's there whether it be in person or on the phone or online. I'm greatful that I'm able to see him most of my week, when he drops me off from school & the principal recognizes him because he drops me off almost every day. If not he usually talks to me as he's on his way to school and as I'm on my way to school. I'm thankful that we're lasting so long in this relationship without any major conflict or issues. If anything we're always open to talk about topics, etc. Yes, it's not always happy but most of the time we're happy which is amazing. I love kicking his butt in games [yahoo pool] tehee! (: Yes at our own homes&families, it's not the best environment for either of us and it brings us down but we always have each other to talk to because our families are very similar. Yes our mothers yell at us to do this and that and whatnot. But no matter what, he's always there to make me smile, keep me calm, and be grateful that I have him.

3. Family: My relationship with my mom is complicated. She can be a nice person to you and when you're gone, she's the biggest bitch ever. She has days where she's pissed off or PMSing, no lie. She takes it out by yelling at my brother & my mistakes. She complains that all our grades are low. My dad's a great guy who really cares and dotes on me but I don't have conversations with him. I guess its because he doesn't understand much of what I like as much as my mom does. He doesn't try to understand my generation&whatnot compared to my mom who likes to laugh&joke aorund with my cousins&I. My brother is a cool dude sometimes. He may be annoying and you'd get the feeling that you want to beat the shit outta him but he's really considerate and kind. Before my boyfriend, I'd mostly have him to take out on when my mom yells at me and really pisses me off. He's there to listen and like give his input on what my mom yells at him for. We joke around and it's good that I have him as my brother because we're close.

4. Friends: I used to believe that I have a number of friends that I'd be able to talk to. Yes in school I have some people but I don't hang out with them or anything. I just see them and basically small talk I guess. But the few closest friends I have that mean so much to me is, my wifusband Josephine, boyfriend Justin & wifums Sharon. I don't know what I'd do without these three. Josephine has been there for me for about more than four years ever since we met. We didn't click at first but we gradually became friends and best friends with other girls however the others didn't really last and they all drifted. One sometimes talks to us but we were never able to hang out despite the fact that she brings up how we haven't hung out in so long. DUH! Because you're with your boyfriend&you're like a different person now &BECAUSE JOSEPHINE'S in Virginia... away from me. ): Ah boyfriend, simply adorable. You're so cute with your funny quotes that I still remember. I love tickling you because you simply smile and hug me so tight♥

[s]uh, not done but will finish asap![/s]
Scratch that, been busy the past few days (October 31, 2008)
Happy Halloween.

So went trick or treating a bit with the boyfriend♥ , Donald and his two friends. Got some candy but could've gotten more. Anyways, some pictures of Halloween:
